Yellow

September 2016. So much yellow.

A little goes a long way, and I put way too much on the brush when I started the background. So instead of a light, warm glow, I created a bright yellow overcast sky. The brown clouds helped subdue it, and I tried to not overdo them.

In the two below, the original is on bottom, and the second try above.

In the original, I think I liked the right bare trees, whereas I liked the left one in the second better.

You may note there is a prominent cabin in the original. I didn’t like it that much, so I put a tiny one in the next try, and partially obscured it. Not something I’d typically think of doing, but definitely something that would happen in reality. Nothing’s ever framed perfectly.

The far distance trees look much better to me in the second try. Still not a huge fan of the pines and shrubs. Totally forgot to do realistic shadows and reflections. Um, WHERE ARE THEY? Not really sure what I was trying to accomplish with the snowy leaves on the trees.

I think that’s about it for this one. My friend AJ bought the original one. My first commission/sale.
